I was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1971. I studied English Literature at Trinity College, Dublin, and Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia.

I've won 2 Irish Book Awards, the Bisto Book of the Year Award, and have won or been shortlisted for many other prizes.

The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas has spent 76 weeks at no.1 in Ireland, was the bestselling book of both 2007 and 2008 in Spain, and was a no.1 bestseller in the UK, Australia and many other countries worldwide. In November 2008 it reached #1 on the New York Times Bestsellers.

To date, it has sold more than 4 million copies worldwide.

My novels are available in 38 lanuages.

I've published 6 novels, a novella for charity, over 70 short stories and many book reviews, articles and non-fiction pieces.

In 2009, I will publish a second novella, THE DARE, (March) as part of World Book Day's Quick Reads promotion, and my seventh novel, THE HOUSE OF SPECIAL PURPOSE (May).
