I was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1971. I studied English Literature at Trinity College, Dublin, and Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia.

I've won 2 Irish Book Awards, the Bisto Book of the Year Award, and have won or been shortlisted for many other international literary prizes.

My novels are published in 41 languages.
