‘The Absolutist’ interview
Here’s 2 parts of a long television interview from Canadian television in which I discuss The Absolutist and my writing in general.

Part 2
Radio interviews
Some radio interviews from the last few days, discussing THE ABSOLUTIST.
Tristan’s Blog
One of my Australian writer friends, Tristan Bancks, keeps a great blog which includes a regular series called THE WRITER’S STUDIO where he asks questions of other writers about their working spaces and their writing habits. He recently interviewed me for this series and my responses, and some photos of where I write, are online on his site.
Tristan is a prolific and enthusiastic writer of fast-paced, action-filled, books for young people. I’ve called his Mac Slater series the kind of books that didn’t exist when I was a kid, and I wish they had. His new book, My Life and Other Stuff I Made Up, is published down under in July. Check out all things Tristan here.

An Interview
A couple of months ago I gave a talk at Dublin City Libraries to a group of young readers about my books in general and took questions from them, which were mostly about THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PYJAMAS. You can listen to the whole interview and reading (which is from NOAH BARLEYWATER RUNS AWAY) here or read the transcript here.
Sunday Independent interview
There’s a new interview published in today’s Sunday Independent – discussing NOAH BARLEYWATER RUNS AWAY but lots of other things too. You can read it here.
Navan and London
A busy 48 hours. On Wednesday morning I drove out to Navan to take part in the annual readers day in Navan Library. Novelists Claire Kilroy, Kevin Power and I gave a joint talk on ‘bloody good reads’, five books each that we really love and our reasons why. I chose The Cider House Rules, The Go-Between, The Talented Mr Ripley, William Golding’s sea trilogy and The Damned Utd.
Then on to London for an early morning appearance on BBC Breakfast on Thursday morning where I talked about NOAH BARLEYWATER RUNS AWAY. The premiere of Eat Pray Love was on in London the night before and I had high hopes that Julia Roberts might be on the show too; instead there was an actor from Coronation Street. Oh well.
And then to a fantastic venue just off Oxford Street in the evening, where my UK publisher, Transworld, was holding a party to celebrate its 60th anniversary. Full of authors, agents, editors and Random House folk, it was a very enjoyable evening although I made it to bed reasonably early as I was on the first plane back to Dublin this morning. All energy must be conserved for the UK book tour in 9 days time!
Entrelinhas Video
One of the television interviews I did when I was in Brazil has been posted on YouTube. There are some funny cut-ins along the way – “it’s all for one, D’Artagnan!” – also, a photograph of me with a strange expression on my face holding a collection of Philip Ardagh books in my hands!
