Flickerfest
I went to Bondi Beach last night for the opening night of this year’s Flickerfest Short Film Festival. A short film I produced from my story AMERICAN FARM ’44 was chosen as one of the four opening night features. The title of the short is THE TELEGRAM MAN.
The festival was intended to take place outdoors but just as we all took our seats the rain began and we had to move indoors, which was a bit of a shame but everyone took it in good stride. Of the 4 films shown on the night, my favourite was a witty story of a father and son at a parent-teachers night called Bee Sting, which starred Brendan Cowell whose debut novel HOW IT FEELS is the best thing I’ve read in Australia so far.
The festival continues in Sydney until 16 January and then tours Australia until the end of March so if you happen to be in Oz, you can catch it somewhere.

Flickerfest
I will be on Bondi Beach in Sydney on Friday January 7th for the premiere of THE TELEGRAM MAN, a short film I produced based on my short story AMERICAN FARM ’44, which was originally published in the Wake Anthology in 2005.
The film shot last year in New South Wales and tells the story of a man whose job is to deliver telegrams to families who have lost their sons in the Second World War. Australian actors Jack Thompson and Gary Sweet play the lead roles.
THE TELEGRAM MAN has been selected for the opening night screening at the Flickerfest Short Film Festival in Sydney, which runs from January 7th – January 16th and then tours Australia until March. More details can be found on their website.
The Telegram Man
The first trailer for THE TELEGRAM MAN, a short film based on my short story American Farm ’44 is now online. It stars Jack Thompson, is directed by James F Khehtie and I’m the executive producer.
More about release dates when they’re available.
The Telegram Man
Good news from Australia is that shooting on THE TELEGRAM MAN, the short film adapted from a short story of mine has been completed.
The picture here shows actor Jack Thompson, who plays the lead role of Bill. Director James F Khehtie brings the film into post-production now and more news about it will appear… soon-ish.
The Telegram Man
Shooting takes place this week on THE TELEGRAM MAN, an adaptation of my story AMERICAN FARM ’44, which I mentioned on the blog a few weeks ago. It stars veteran actor Jack Thompson, pictured here with director James F Khehtie and screenwriter Victoria McIntyre. I’m Executive Producer of the film, which shoots in Windsor, a small town outside Sydney, Australia.
